Special support for electricity bills for small business owners...expands coverage to ‘small business owners with annual sales of 60 million won or less’

Post content

For those who run a business, the electricity bill is quite high, so it is inevitable that it will be a burden.

The Korean government has decided to provide electricity bill support of up to 200,000 won to small business owners with annual sales of less than 60 million won. Applications and applications for the 3rd electricity bill special support project will begin on the 8th.

The number of people receiving support for this project has increased from the existing ‘small business owners with annual sales of 30 million won or less’ to ‘small business owners with annual sales of 60 million won or less.’ Additionally, among the first and second applicants in the first half of the year, small business owners who did not receive support because their sales exceeded the standards will be supported without a separate application if they meet the expanded standards. As for the application process, if you are a contractor who has directly contracted to supply electricity with Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), apply by entering your business information and KEPCO customer number as in the existing method, and the electricity fee will be deducted from your bill.

For non-contract users who do not have a direct contract with KEPCO, such as those who include electricity bills in management fees, etc., the electricity bill subsidy will be refunded to their account by submitting a receipt for payment of more than 12,000 won per month.

This is a greatly simplified process from the method of submitting monthly payment receipts to confirm the electricity bills paid.

Applications for this third round of electricity bill support can be made at ‘Small Business Electricity Bill Special Support.kr’ starting July 8, and small business owners who have difficulty applying online can visit any of the 77 regional centers of the Small Business Market Promotion Agency to receive help.

Detailed information can be found in the notice issued by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups (www.mss.go.kr), and guidance can also be obtained from the Small Business Electricity Bill Special Support Call Center (1533-0200).

Hwang Young-ho, head of the Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Support Group at the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, said, “As we have expanded the scope of support this time and reorganized it to make it easier to receive support, we hope it will help alleviate the management burden of more small business owners.”
