‘Reconnecting Korea, Regional Love Rail Travel’, developed by the Korean government to support regions at risk of extinction due to population decline, is gaining great popularity.
What are the benefits?
This program is a tourist product that allows you to travel to tourist attractions in depopulated areas by rail and provides a 50% discount on train tickets. Within 20 days of launching the travel product, more than 10,000 people made reservations, showing great popularity.
This rail travel is sold in two types: independent travel and package. When you first go on a trip, you can purchase a round-trip ticket at a 10% discount, and if you complete QR code authentication at a tourist attraction while actually sightseeing, you will receive an additional 40% discount coupon for the next month. Tourists can receive a total discount of 50%.
How do I make a reservation?
Since rail travel products are tourist products rather than regular boarding passes, they must be reserved through the online Let's KORAIL tourism product page or the tourism product tab of mobile KORAIL Talk.
After downloading the 'Korail Talk' app, if you click on the 'Local Love Travel' tab at the bottom, you can see a pop-up saying 'Certify that you have visited major tourist attractions and receive a 50% discount on trains!' After pressing ', you can select the tourist attraction and product you want.
Since the main purpose of this program is to revitalize depopulated areas, Seoul and the metropolitan area cannot be selected as tourist destinations.
After selecting a product and visiting the area by train, you can receive an additional discount coupon worth 40% of the fare early next month by verifying the QR code attached to major tourist attractions on the Korail Talk app. Discount vouchers have a validity period of 1 year from the date of issuance.
What travel products do they have?
There are 140 package products and 69 independent travel discount products, including ▲Boseong Green Tea Field Travel Package, ▲Jeongseon Rail Bike and Auraji Travel Package.
In particular, temporary tourist train products such as ▲Taebaek Sunflower Festival ▲Seocheon Maekmun-dong Flower Festival and ▲Yeongju Buseoksa Healing Tour ▲Yeongdong Grape Festival are very popular.
KORAIL, in cooperation with the Korea Rural Community Corporation, also began selling the ‘Rural Tour Pass’ product on the 22nd, which allows you to experience rural areas in five regions (Jangseong, Namwon, Hoengseong, Taebaek, and Yeongcheon).
