The satisfaction of multicultural families with
Gyeonggi Da News (publisher Haseong Song) was found to be very high. In
particular, it was found that the satisfaction level increased by more than 20%
compared to the survey three years ago.
Gyeonggi Da News conducted a newspaper satisfaction
survey on 176 people from multicultural families who had subscribed to Gyeonggi
Da News in Goyang and Paju for two weeks each from September to October.
As a result, to the question ‘Is Gyeonggi Da News
helpful to you?’, 86.92% of the respondents (153 people) answered that it was
helpful (119 people a lot, 34 people a little), indicating a high level of
satisfaction. 8.52% of the respondents (15 people) answered 'Average', and only
3.4% answered 'Not very helpful' (4 people) or 'Not helpful at all' (2 people).
In the same survey conducted in 2018 (143 responses),
67% of the respondents (96 people) were helpful to the same question (63
helpful, 33 helpful), and 26% of the respondents (The level of satisfaction was
significantly improved compared to those who answered 'normal' and 7% of the
respondents (10 people) answered 'not helpful'.
Among the articles, the fields that were helpful to
multicultural families were in the following order: Welfare information>Multicultural
Family Support Center News>Multicultural Policy Information>Education and
Childrearing Information>Community News>Korean and Cooking>Legal
Counseling>Life Information>Multilingual, etc. 3 years It wasn't much different
from before.
The contents that Gyeonggi Multicultural News would
like to be covered in the future are welfare and living information>
employment information> education and childcare information> economic and
financial information> legal consultation> Korean and cuisine> housing
and housing information> local news, etc. The demand for welfare and life information,
economic and financial information appears to have increased.
On the other hand, ▲
lack of employment information ▲ expansion of multiple
languages ▲ expansion of education and childrearing
information were found to need further improvement.
According to the characteristics of the respondents,
92 people (52.2%) of multicultural families who subscribed to newspapers for
more than 2 years, 29 people (16.4%) who subscribed for 1-2 years, 23 people
(13.0%) who subscribed for 6 months to 1 year It was found that there were many
cases of reading newspapers regularly, and the preference for newspapers was
also high.
Even multicultural families who have lived in Korea
for more than 10 years felt that newspapers were not of much help if they were
not familiar with Korean, and the characteristic of requiring more
multilingualism for newspaper editing was still there.
To the question ‘Do you plan to subscribe to Gyeonggi Da
News again next year?’, 90.3% of the respondents (134 people) answered ‘yes’
(134 people very much, 25 people a little), indicating their unchanging love
for the newspaper. This figure is also 21.3% higher than three years ago.
This satisfaction survey was conducted through a
non-face-to-face survey in 6 languages (Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian,
Thai, English) using the Naver form due to the corona virus.
About this survey, the publisher Song Haseong said, “I feel a great sense of responsibility for the satisfaction level has increased significantly compared to three years ago. Papaya Story, a total information service for foreign residents, was recently launched to cope with the increase in non-face-to-face activities and changes in the media environment caused by COVID-19. We will do our best to diversify information delivery media for multicultural families.”
