Seoul city introduces short-term subway pass and foreign language two-way conversation system in the second half of the year

Post content

The Seoul Metropolitan Government has decided to introduce a T-luggage (luggage storage and delivery) service for foreign tourists, a short-term subway pass for 1 and 3 days, and a two-way conversation system in foreign languages to the Seoul subway from the second half of this year. What kind of service shall we look at?

What is the service of ‘T-Luggage’?

*Service for tourists who are troublesome with luggage: T-Luggage (https://tluggage.co.kr) delivers heavy luggage from the airport to accommodations, tourist attractions, hot places etc, it is a service that delivers heavy luggage to the customer's desired location or stores it in a specific location.

With this service, you can send your luggage from the airport to your Seoul hotel with T-Luggage. Users can look around Seoul without worrying about their luggage and go to the hotel to retrieve their luggage.

Since last May, T-Luggage started operation at four stations including Gimpo Airport, Seoul Station, Hongik University Immigration Station, and Myeongdong Station, and has achieved about 1,000 cumulative uses so far. Seoul City plans to expand services centering on base stations frequently used by tourists.

You can use it by visiting a manned storage or unmanned storage, or after making a reservation on the T-Luggage website. The Seoul Metropolitan Government has created a service that stands out for foreign tourists. Locals can also use it.

No subway passes for tourists?

*Ttota GO, short-term subway pass: The Seoul subway is very convenient, but it was inconvenient for foreign tourists to issue only a one-time ticket that can be used only once or a commuter pass that can be used for more than 30 days. There are also 10 and 20 tickets, but they are not for tourists.

Accordingly, the city of Seoul is also preparing to issue ‘Tota GO’ (tentative name), which allows unlimited use of the Seoul subway for a set period of time. Considering that 36.8% of foreign tourists visiting Seoul stay for 4-7 days, we are reviewing 1-day and 3-day tickets first.

The selling price seems to be around 5,600 won for a 1-day pass and 11,800 won for a 3-day pass

Just talk in a foreign language?

*Subway Station Foreign Language Conversation System: Seoul City decided to establish a simultaneous foreign language conversation system. This system is a communication program that allows foreigners of various nationalities to receive real-time and accurate subway usage information.

When a station employee and a foreigner speak in their own language, the two-way transparent display automatically translates into their own language (text).

This system is scheduled to debut at Myeongdong Station from November. Next year, it will expand to five stations including Seoul Station and Itaewon Station.

In addition to English, Japanese, and Chinese, 13 languages, including Vietnam and Thailand, which are showing an increasing trend of tourists, will be provided. I think it will be useful for foreign tourists and foreigners staying in Korea.
