I use a credit card and I have an amount to pay in installments. In June, a Korean, pretending to be an S company Card employee, called me. I didn't think it was voice phishing at first because he or she knew my personal information, visa information, and the exact payment amount of my credit card.

But he/she started to threatening me that if I don't pay the bills quickly, I could go to court. So I thought something was odd. Come to think of it, his/her voice was different from usual credit card company employee. Would he/she have thought I was stupid because I was a foreigner?

I said that since I can't make an autopay right away, I would deposit ifhe/she gave the account number, but he/she gave me the account number in his/her personal name, not the account number in S company card name. I hung up the call and immediately called the S company card customer service center. They told me to report it to the police saying it was voice phishing.

I didn't have time to go to the police station for an investigation, so I decided to leave it alone, but this person called me again on a different number. This time, I said, "All calls are stored as evidence, so I'll report it to the police station," then the phone was hung up. Everyone be really careful.

This case is 100% sure voice phishing. Nevertheless, the person was not deceived and dealt with fraudulent calls carefully.

One thing to note is that when the scammer called the person who wrote the article, he/she said he/she exactly knew the writer’s personal information, visa information, and credit card payment amount.

If this is not resolved, other scammers who obtained the leaked personal information of the writer will continue to call in the future.

Personal information may have been leaked from other way, but you should first suspect the smartphone of the writer. It is necessary to check whether personal information has not been leaked from the smartphone you are currently using.

Be sure to set the lock (security) of your smartphone, install and run various security-related apps through the Google Play Store or IOS App Store, and check that there are no apps that take your personal information.

Also, if you have time, visit the smartphone after-sales service center and ask for a security check to see if a voice phishing-related app is installed.

Above all, if you receive a call asking you to transfer money, be sure to call the company's representative number you found on the Internet and check it out.
