<Question> Through the recent continuing heavy rain in Korea, I have noticed that many cities’ flood damage are big. As a foreign resident who has lived in Korea for two years, I am willing to help if help is needed.
Is there a place where I can volunteer or where I can inquire about volunteering?

You can do volunteer work in Korea at the ‘1365 Volunteer Work Portal’ (www.1365.go.kr). Please visit this site created by the government agency and make an account as a member first.
In the Volunteer Work Portal, you can check the list of each region that currently needs volunteering, and you can pick one of them and do volunteer work. When volunteering is completed, volunteer hours are credited to your ID.
These volunteer hours are accepted by the Korean government. When foreign residents extend or renew their visa, it will make a positive impression if they bring a document that shows volunteer hours printed from the volunteer work portal.
In particular, some visas give extra points for volunteer hours and help you change your visa more advantageously. In particular, some visas give extra points for volunteer hours and help you change your visa. One disappointment is that the volunteer work portal is only operated in Korean.
It would be nice if you have a Korean friend to volunteer with to use the volunteer work portal. Or getting help from the immigrant support agencies is also good.
