The Korean language proficiency test, which is essential for foreigners, how to apply and revise it?

The Test of Proficiency in Korean (TOPIK) is a test that helps foreigners or overseas Koreans who do not speak Korean as their native language learn Korean. You can evaluate your Korean language skills and use the results for studying at a university in Korea or getting a job.

How to apply

From December 6th to 12th, we accept applications for the 86th Korean Proficiency Test to be held on January 29th, 2023. You must access the www.topik.go.kr site and apply. Mobile applications are not accepted, only on PC.

After the application period, the scope for modification is limited, and some information may not be able to be corrected, so you may not be able to take the test. Be sure to check that your personal information is registered correctly at the application stage, and make sure that you do not have any disadvantages in taking the test by incorrectly entering your personal information.

At this time, you must not 'modify member information' to change information. You must apply for correction by using the ‘Applicant Information Correction Request’ menu.

Correction method for each information

○Photo: You can register and edit from [My Page] → [Registration Status] until 5 days before the test date (Tuesday 23:59) without a separate application procedure

○Name in English, Date of Birth, Gender: [My Page] → [Registration Status] → Click [Application for Correction of Applicant Information] → Fill in the information that needs correction and the reason for correction, and then apply for correction

○Name and other information in Korean: After filling out the ‘Application for Correction of Applicant Information’, apply for correction by e-mail (topik@korea.kr) along with a copy of your ID. The application form can be downloaded from [TOPIK Madang] → [Resources]

○ Items that can be corrected: ① In case there is an incorrect letter in the English name ② In case a part of the English name is omitted

③In case one of the year/month/date of birth information does not match ④In case the order of month/day in date of birth is changed ⑤In case gender is incorrectly indicated ⑥Other cases recognized by the Korean Language Proficiency Test Center (naturalization, name change, etc.)

For photos, use the <Standards for Alien Registration> of the Ministry of Justice. The photo size is 3.5cm × 4.5cm wide, and only jpg and jpeg files within 200kb can be registered. The photo must be a frontal face photo on a white background taken within 6 months. Photos will be registered on the admission ticket and transcript.

Validity of transcript

TOPIK is valid for 2 years from the date of score announcement. Results will be announced on the homepage at the announced date and time. Transcripts are issued through the website, and are not sent by mail, fax, or e-mail.

All information cannot be corrected after the information correction application period. It is important to remember that the Korean Proficiency Test Center will make the final decision on whether or not an applicant's information has been corrected after applying for correction.

The result of the correction process must be checked directly by the applicant on the homepage after 3 days from the date of application. There may be cases where the application for correction is not accepted and you cannot pass the test
