Multicultural families create Korea multicultural culture

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will openly recruit the 6th members of the Multicultural Families Participation Conference by August 1st, where multicultural families can directly express their opinions, including policy ideas. 

When you become a member of the Multicultural Family Participation Conference, you can participate in activities such as presenting opinions on multicultural family policies, projects, and suggesting new policy ideas.

The Multicultural Families Participation Conference was launched in 2015 to expand opportunities for multicultural families to participate in policies, and a total of 11 meetings have been held so far.

The policy ideas directly proposed by multicultural families at the participation meeting include the '3rd Basic Plan for Multicultural Families' and related implementation plans, 'Measures for Inclusion of Multicultural Families' and 'Measures to Inclusive Support for Children of Multicultural Families at School Age', etc. was used to establish the recently promoted multicultural family policy.

Any multicultural family including marriage immigrants, spouses, and children of multicultural families can apply through the website of the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family (www.mogef.go.kr) and the websites of 17 cities and provinces.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will select a total of 20 members by comprehensively considering expertise in multicultural family policy, willingness to participate, country of origin, and region of residence.

Participating members selected through this open recruitment will begin their two-year activities, starting with the Multicultural Family Participation Conference which will be held in the second half of this year.

Kim Sook-ja, director of family policy at the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, said, “Ideas discovered at the Multicultural Family Participation Conference will be actively utilized in the 4th Basic Plan for Multicultural Family Policy (2023-2027) to be implemented from next year.”
