Post content

One of the biggest concerns of marriage immigrants living in Korea is employment.

The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has decided to operate 104 vocational education and training courses at 77 family centers across the country to help marriage immigrants who wish to find employment or start a business develop their vocational capabilities.

The education and training course to be implemented this year is planned and operated jointly by the family center and vocational education and training institutions (New Work Center for Women, etc.), and supports the entire process, from basic education such as language and understanding of workplace culture to vocational education and training and employment linkage.

The family center decided to diagnose the level of employment preparation and job competency of marriage immigrants and provide prior education to improve job competency, such as understanding workplace culture, computer training, and professional Korean language training related to the job.

The vocational education and training provided after prior education includes courses such as bilingual instructor, judicial and medical interpreter and translator, and trade clerk, so that marriage immigrants can advance into fields where they can utilize their immigration background to their advantage, and reflect the demand for local jobs. We provide employment courses such as Car seat manufacturing expert (Ulsan auto parts partner) Historical and cultural storyteller (Gyeongju cultural interpreter). The start-up process includes operating an online shopping mall and an overseas purchasing agency.

After completing the pre-education and vocational education and training courses, we plan to support job search activities and link them to local schools, courts, companies, and institutions for employment, and also provide individual counseling on difficulties and working conditions in work life after employment.

The entire operation process can be checked on the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family website (mogef.go.kr) or Papaya Story (www.papayastory.com). You can apply for vocational education and training by following the following procedure on the family center website (familynet.or.kr) (Family center website > Participation forum > Program application > Search for local center and then search)

All vocational education and training courses are free of charge, and to support training participation, an educational activity fee of 100,000 won is paid in increments of 40 hours over 20 days.

We hope that many marriage immigrants will participate as the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family has prepared a better vocational training course than before in collaboration with family centers across the country.
