The Korean government has decided to pay 100,000 won in vacation pay to up to 190,000 workers at small and medium-sized enterprises and small business owners. In addition, it is said that a discount of 30,000 won is provided to 1 million people who reserve accommodations to promote tourism.
On March 29, the government held an emergency economy and people’s livelihood meeting and announced “measures to stimulate domestic demand.”
The key content of this domestic demand revitalization plan is to boost domestic demand through the expansion of tourism events, massive shopping discount events, and substantial government support. Foreign residents can also participate in most events.
Accommodation leisure travel support
First of all, the government decided to provide financial support of a total of 60 billion won to discount essential travel expenses such as accommodation and leisure, and to promote domestic vacation expenses for workers.
Discounts on essential travel expenses include ▲ 30,000 won for accommodation reservations ▲ 10,000 won coupon for amusement facilities ▲ KTX/SRT discounts ▲ Up to 20,000 won discount on air tickets arriving at regional airports.
In the ‘employee vacation support project’, if a worker accumulates 200,000 won in vacation expenses, the company and the government accumulate 100,000 won and the government can spend a total of 400,000 won in travel vacation expenses. With this vacation money, you can purchase travel products at the exclusive online mall ‘Holiday Shop’.
Tourism activation event
Relay events are also promoted to promote tourism. The government plans to create a travel atmosphere by hosting Hallyu events, K-pop concerts, and travel fairs in succession from April to May.
Since June, various travel programs centered on local governments have been organized, and large-scale events such as Saemangeum Scout Jamboree (August), Busan International Film Festival (October), Rolled Championship (October), and G-Star (November), an international game exhibition will be held consecutively.
130 local festivals held nationwide are also supported to make them successful through various events such as payment of consumption coupons by local government.
Shopping discount exhibition held
There is also a shopping discount competition in which a large number of retailers participate. We decided to expand the spring and summer sales in the distribution industry and extend the Korea Sale Festa held in November from the 15th to the 20th.
