Gyeonggi-do Foreigner Welfare Center Directors’ Association, business agreement with funeral service company ‘Shil Nakwon’ for ‘30% discount’

Post content

As the number of foreign residents living in Korea increases, the number of deaths due to various reasons such as disease and accidents is also increasing. However, there are quite a few foreign residents who have no bereaved family or have difficulties even if they do have bereaved family members because they do not know the Korean funeral method.

Accordingly, on July 23, the Gyeonggi-do Foreigner Welfare Center Directors' Association (Chairman Kim Yong-guk) signed a business agreement with the funeral service company Free Life Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Man-gi) and directly managed 'Sheolnakwon Stadium Wedding Hall' (CEO Lee Tae-yong) to provide foreigner funeral services.

Sheil Nakwon is a company that has funeral homes in 13 locations across the country and provides high-quality funeral services.

Through this agreement, Shelnakwon decided to grant a 30% discount on funeral service costs to foreign residents across the country, including Gyeonggi-do.

In particular, the nine foreigner welfare centers in Gyeonggi-do decided to provide comprehensive guidance to bereaved families on entry procedures, funeral and cremation methods, transport of the body, and repatriation to their home country.

Choi Young-il, head of the Gimpo City Foreign Resident Welfare Support Center, said, “As the number of foreigners staying for long periods of time is increasing, the number of deaths due to old age, especially among our compatriots, in addition to accidents, is increasing.” “In many cases, funerals for foreigners do not take place and the body is cremated and then returned to the home country. “We need to understand the characteristics of funerals for foreigners well,”

Chairman Kim Yong-guk (Director of Yongin City Foreigner Welfare Center) said, “For foreigners, the entire process, from finding a funeral home to repatriating the remains to their home country, is very complicated and difficult.” “Through this agreement with Shel Paradise, we will make active efforts to not only reduce the cost of funerals for foreigners but also simplify the process,” he said.

Lee Tae-yong, CEO of Shulnagwon Gyeonggi Province, said, “All immigrants who worked in Korea and then passed away ultimately contributed to the Korean economy.” “I hope that Rest Paradise can provide comfort with high-quality funeral services during the final journey.”

Anyone wishing to use the foreign funeral service can contact the nine foreigner welfare centers in Gyeonggi-do, including Suwon, Hwaseong, Yongin, Ansan, Siheung, Gimpo, Namyangju, Seongnam, and Yeoju.
