Up to 30,000 won discount on travel and lodging expenses
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism decided to hold the ‘Korea Accommodation Sale Festa’ starting August 27th to celebrate the Chuseok holiday and distribute 200,000 lodging discount coupons for non-metropolitan areas to all citizens and foreign residents.
For foreigners who have nothing to do during the Chuseok holiday, how about taking this opportunity to go on a trip with friends?
Accommodation discount coupons will be issued on a first-come-first-served basis, one per person, through participating online travel agency channels starting at 10 a.m. on August 27, and issuance will end when all available quantities are sold out.
The issued discount coupon can be used for accommodations in non-metropolitan areas, excluding Seoul, Gyeonggi, and Incheon, for stays from August 9 to October 13. A 30,000 won discount coupon is provided when booking an accommodation product of 70,000 won or more, and a 20,000 won discount voucher is provided when making a reservation of an accommodation product of 20,000 won or more but less than 70,000 won.

Support for high-efficiency devices for small business owners
Starting March 25, Korea Electric Power Corporation has been implementing a project to support the purchase cost of high-efficiency equipment for small business owners.
This means that if a small business owner purchases a high-efficiency air conditioner, refrigerator, washing machine, dryer, etc. with grade 1 energy efficiency, a 40% subsidy will be provided.
A small business owner refers to a person who has been issued a ‘Small and Medium Business Confirmation’ by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups.
You can easily obtain a confirmation by going to the Small and Medium Business Status Information System (sminfo.mss.go.kr).
If you purchase a washing machine and dryer, you can receive up to 800,000 won per business, and if you purchase an air conditioner or refrigerator, you can receive up to 1.6 million won. People who have already made a purchase this year can also apply.
To receive support, register as a member on the Korea Electric Power Corporation's High-Efficiency Equipment Support Project website for small business owners (en-ter.co.kr/ac/main/main.do), register an account, and apply for the project.
Monthly rent support for young people
The government provides support to help young people living away from their families reduce their monthly rent burden.
Special monthly rent support for young people is a program that temporarily supports rent to reduce the burden of housing costs for young people who are experiencing financial difficulties due to high interest rates and high prices.
Among youth who do not own a home between the ages of 19 and 34, if the youth household income is less than 60% of the standard median income and the original household income is less than 100% of the median income, you can receive support. Detailed information on support targets can be found on the ‘Bokjiro’ website.
However, if you live in public rental housing or are already receiving youth monthly rent support benefits implemented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport or local governments, you may not be able to receive support. Before applying, please check whether you are eligible for support through the ‘Youth Housing Support Project Self-Diagnosis’ service provided on the My Home Portal website (www.myhome.go.kr)
