“Multicultural families are the hope and future of Gyeongsangbuk-do”... Establishment of ‘Vietnamese Village’ in Bonghwa-gun

In particular, Bonghwa-gun, Gyeongsangbuk-do started to build a Vietnamese village through the medium of ‘Hwasan Lee’, the progenitor of the Vietnamese royal family.

By restoring the historic sites of Vietnam’s Ly Dynasty called ‘Chunghyodang’ in Bonghwa-gun, they will build a large-scale cultural tourism infrastructure and use it as a base for population inflow.

Park Hyeon-guk, the head of Bonghwa County, visited Tu Son City in Vietnam earlier this year and heard their opinion. Tu Son City is where the Ly Dynasty began. Governor Park said, “We will establish a sisterhood relationship with Tuseon City, Vietnam at the end of this year and start construction of a Vietnamese village.”

Governor Lee Chul-woo of Gyeongsangbuk-do also visited Bonghwa-gun on June 7 and encouraged Bonghwa-gun's efforts.

Governor Lee visited Chunghyodang, the remains of the Ly Dynasty in Vietnam, located in Bongseong-myeon, Bonghwa-gun, and listened to the current status of the Vietnamese village development project.

Then, at a meeting with married immigrant women, he listened to the difficulties of multicultural families and cheered for the new challenge and leap forward of Bonghwa-gun, which has led the multicultural policy of Korea.

Governor Lee Cheol-woo of North Gyeongsang Province said, “Multicultural families are the hope and future of Gyeongsangbuk-do. With customized services and stable living support, we will actively support local residents to leap beyond local extinction and into the local era.”

Park Hyeon-guk, county governor, said, “We will ensure that Vietnamese villagers can settle down and use it as a tourist destination.” “I hope the government will make efforts to successfully promote Vietnamese villages, not only as a countermeasure against population decline and regional extinction, but also as a policy for immigrant women and second-generations,”

Hope that not only Vietnamese villages, but also villages symbolizing other countries such as China, Russia, Thailand, and the Philippines will be created soon.
