Gyeongsangbuk-do announced that it is recruiting outstanding regional talent participants for the 'Region-specific Visa Pilot Project' from February 6th to October 3rd.

Gyeongsangbuk-do does not set out individual qualification requirements, so all foreign residents nationwide can apply if they meet the common qualification requirements.

The ‘region-specific visa’ system is being implemented to encourage settlement in the local community by granting special visa benefits (F-2 visa) to foreigners who will live and work in the region, promote regional economic activities, and promote balanced national development.

In Gyeongsangbuk-do, five cities and counties, including Yeongju, Yeongcheon, Uiseong, Goryeong, and Seongju, were selected for the Ministry of Justice competition last year.

The qualifications for the pilot project in Gyeongsangbuk-do are GNI per capita income of 70% or higher or a professional bachelor's degree or higher Korean TOPIK level 3 or higher or social integration program level 3 or higher Employment/startup in a depopulated area for 5 years or more It is a foreigner who promised to keep it.

Unlike other regions, Gyeongsangbuk-do’s ‘Region-specific Visa Pilot Project’ does not have individual requirements.

In other regions, graduation from a university in one's own region is a prerequisite, but in Gyeongsangbuk-do, those who graduated from a university in a region other than one's region can apply.

Also, even if you have not graduated from college, you can apply if you earn 28,337,400 won or more, which is 70% of the per capita gross national income (GNI per capita of 40,482,000 won in 2021).

If you are selected as an excellent talent, you can change the visa that requires you to return to your country after a certain period of time to a residence (F-2) visa that allows you to continue living in Korea.

The number of recruits is 229 people excluding 61 people who have already been selected out of the total number of 290 people assigned by the Ministry of Justice.

To apply, submit an application form, income/educational background, Korean proficiency, employment and residence confirmation documents to the city/gun (Yeongju City, Yeongcheon City, Uiseong County, Goryeong County, Seongju County) where the project is located. Details can be found on the Gyeongsangbuk-do website and the website of the city or county where the project is located.

On the other hand, Gyeongsangbuk-do newly established the ‘Foreign Community Division’ to take the lead in promoting foreign policy on January 1 of this year, and plans to expand the area for regionally specialized visas in the future based on this.
