As the Omicron virus spread around the world and a
confirmed case appeared in Korea, the government made self-isolation for 10
days mandatory for all entrants from December 3rd.
Self-quarantine refers to self-isolation at home. In
this case, you must be under the control of the quarantine agency and report
your health to the public health center twice a day after installing the app on
your smartphone.
Short-term foreigners who do not have their own
accommodation must be quarantined for 10 days in a temporary living facility
provided by the government.
The government has decided to quarantine all foreign
arrivals, including Koreans, for ten days for the next two weeks to prevent
further influx of Omicron mutations.
According to this standard, which is in effect from
December 3 to 16, Koreans and long-term foreigners must undergo a PCR test
three times during self-isolation: before entry, the first day of entry, and
before the release of quarantine.
In the meantime, foreigners wishing to enter Korea
could avoid quarantine if they received a quarantine waiver from a Korean
consulate, etc., but this will become more difficult in the future.
The government has decided not to issue a quarantine
exemption letter unless executive-level businessmen make an important contract,
high-ranking public officials perform official duties, or the general public
attends a funeral by strictly applying the issuance standards. Even after
receiving the quarantine exemption, the period of stay in Korea is limited to 7
days.
Vaccinated persons are also required to
self-quarantine for 10 days without exception.
Meanwhile, all over the world, entry into the country is again restricted or quarantine is mandatory. The world is shrinking once again due to the omicron mutation.
