Papaya Story, a total information service for foreign residents, is holding a ‘Free Unpaid Wage Resolution Service Event’ for foreign workers and multicultural families who are experiencing difficulties due to not receiving wages.

Papaya Story’s ‘Unpaid Wage Resolution Service’ is a service that, together with law firms (attorneys), supports foreign workers who have not received wages for more than two months to receive wages according to the procedures of Korean law.

Complex and difficult unpaid wage resolution process

Many immigrant support organizations in Korea provide guidance on procedures for resolving unpaid wages, but it is almost impossible for foreign workers to actually receive unpaid wages according to this guidance.

To briefly explain the process, ① write and submit a complaint, ② attend the Ministry of Employment and Labor and make a statement, ③ obtain a document confirming the payment of arrears, ④ apply for a simplified payment, or ⑤ attempt to reach an agreement with the employer, and ⑥ file a civil lawsuit.

This process takes anywhere from 8 months to over a year, and it is virtually difficult for foreign residents who are not familiar with Korean laws and procedures to follow the entire process in Korean. Accordingly, Papaya Story operates a service that conveniently supports all of these procedures at a minimal cost, including an upfront fee (KRW 250,000). All procedures are conducted by a law firm (attorney), and Papaya Story provides interpretation, etc.

In particular, Papaya Story will be holding an event from January 5, 2024, that will provide free ‘arrear wage resolution service’ to the first 10 people without any down payment. <20% extra when resolving unpaid wages>

Foreign workers with unpaid wages of more than 10 million won for more than two months can participate in the free event. Applications can be made on the Papaya Story website.

As you go through the application process, you will notice that there is a lot of information to enter and documents to upload. This is because only then can you receive unpaid wages accurately and reliably. The free event benefits foreign residents who enter as much of this information and documents as possible.

If you stop while entering information and documents, you will not be able to receive the free event benefits.

In 2024, Papaya Story will continue to provide a variety of information and services to foreign residents to ensure that they have no inconvenience while living in Korea.
