Gyeongsangnam-do announced that it will implement the 'E-7-4 Visa Metropolitan Local Government Recommendation System' from October 20th to December 20th, which gives additional points for converting foreign workers to skilled workers (E-7-4) visas. It appears that other metropolitan local governments will soon implement this system!
What is the metropolitan local government recommendation system?
*What is this? : This recommendation system was created in accordance with the ‘Innovative Expansion Plan for Skilled Workers’ announced by the Ministry of Justice last September. Of the total 5,500 people, Gyeongsangnam-do was allocated a regional quota of 553 people. Metropolitan local governments such as Gyeongsangnam-do directly issue employment recommendation letters to foreign workers seeking long-term employment, allowing them to directly select foreign workers to work in their region.
*What are the benefits of receiving a visa recommendation letter? : Once a visa recommendation letter is received, foreign workers can easily obtain an E-7-4 visa and obtain long-term employment in Gyeongsangnam-do.
You can stay for the duration of your employment contract with your employer without applying for a separate extension, and you can gradually convert to permanent residency! However, foreigners who have received an employment recommendation letter from Gyeongsangnam-do must reside in Gyeongsangnam-do for more than 2 years.
Who can get an employment recommendation?
*Who is the target? : Visa recommendation letters are issued to registered foreigners who have stayed in Korea for more than 4 years as non-professional employees (E-9), seafarers (E-10), or visiting employees (H-2) and who have been recommended by employers at their workplace.
*What are the benefits? : If you receive a visa recommendation letter from Gyeongsangnam-do, you will receive 30 additional points in the E-7-4 visa conversion screening. If you add these points and the conversion requirement score is 200 or more, you can receive an E-7-4 visa.
How can I apply?
*Foreign workers working in Gyeongsangnam-do: If a foreign worker who wants a visa recommendation letter is currently working in Gyeongsangnam-do, tell the company boss that you want to receive this visa recommendation letter, visit the responsible department of the basic local government with the boss, and fill out the application form. *Foreign workers working in other regions: To receive a visa recommendation, you must be recommended by a company owner in Gyeongsangnam-do, so if you are currently working in another region, you must move to a company in Gyeongsangnam-do.

*How to apply for an E-7-4 visa? : Foreign workers who have received a visa recommendation letter from Gyeongsangnam-do can directly access the Ministry of Justice’s civil affairs service website ‘Hi Korea’ (www.hikorea.go.kr) and apply for issuance of an E-7-4 visa conversion.
