Gyeonggi Peace Plaza Dog Playground

Gyeonggi Province recently opened "Haemakgae," a small-sized dog-only space and playground for residents and their dogs visiting Gyeonggi Peace Plaza.

"Haemakgae," meaning "playground for cheerful dogs," was chosen to create a bright and positive atmosphere where residents and their dogs can enjoy themselves.

The newly created ‘Haemakgae’ is about 270in size within the Gyeonggi Peace Plaza of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Northern Building.

It is decorated with a yellow fence that is easily recognizable to dogs, and is a dedicated space for small and medium-sized dogs under 40cm in height that have completed animal registration.

Operating hours are daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. During inclement weather, such as heavy rain or snow, or large-scale events within the plaza, the plaza may be temporarily closed for safety reasons.

Entry is by scanning your pet identification card (QR), and the facility is managed unmanned. After a one-month trial period, the facility and operating procedures will be further refined.

Transportation support for pregnant women in vulnerable areas

There's a program to provide transportation assistance to pregnant women who face difficulties due to the lack of access to an obstetrician/gynecologist nearby.

This year, Gyeonggi Province launched the "Transportation Assistance Program for Pregnant Women in Vulnerable Childbirth Areas" in six regions: Gapyeong County, Yeoncheon County, Pocheon City, Yangpyeong County, Yeoju City, and Anseong City.

This program was designed to address the situation where pregnant women in areas without access to obstetric care postpone hospital visits or miss essential medical care due to the burden of long-distance travel. It provides stable access to necessary prenatal and postnatal care and childbirth-related medical services throughout pregnancy.

Applications for transportation assistance can be submitted online at Government24 (www.gov.kr) or by visiting your local city/county public health center. Eligible applicants must be pregnant women (including registered foreign nationals) who have been registered as residents of a childbirth-prone area for at least six months as of the application date. Applications can be submitted between the third month of pregnancy and three months after childbirth. Transportation assistance is provided up to 1 million won per person, with card points deducted for public transportation, taxi fares, and fuel costs. The card can be used for up to six months after giving birth. Upon application, a Shinhan Card National Happiness Card (credit/check) will be issued in the pregnant woman's name.

Support for deposit return guarantee and deposit fee

Gyeonggi Province is operating the "Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Fee Support Project." This program, in collaboration with the central government and local governments, provides up to 400,000 won in deposit support to tenants without homes.

Currently, eligible tenants without homes and with a rental deposit of 300 million won or less who have signed up for a Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee (HUG, HF, SGI) program are eligible. Income requirements include 50 million won for young people, 60 million won for those other than young people, and 75 million won for newlyweds. Foreigners are not eligible for support, but multicultural families are eligible.

You can apply for the Jeonse Deposit Return Guarantee Support Program online through Government24 (www.gov.kr) or Ansim Jeonse Cell Phone (www.khug.or.kr/jeonse).

Meanwhile, the Gyeonggi-do Rental Housing Victim Support Center (031-242-2450) will be the first of its kind in the nation, opening in March 2023. It plays a key role in supporting residents suffering from rental housing fraud by providing reception and counseling for rental housing fraud victims emergency living expenses support (KRW 1 million per household) for rental housing fraud victims, emergency housing support and moving expenses support (KRW 1.5 million per household), and emergency management support for rental housing victims.
