“다양성과 포용성이 함께하며 이주민과 선주민이 하나 되는 도시”

수원특례시(시장 이재준)와 수원시외국인복지센터(센터장 양해규)는 지난 9월 19일 수원야외음악당에서 수원시민과 외국인주인이 함께하는 ‘제18회 다문화 한가족 축제’를 개최했다.

이날 행사에는 이재준 시장을 비롯해 김미경 수원시의회 의장, 김영진 국회의원, 송소영 수원출입국외국인청장, 김용국 경기도외국인복지센터협회장, 윤영민 수원시글로벌청소년드림센터장, 고명진 수원중앙복지재단 대표이사, 경기도의원, 수원시의원 등 내외빈과 외국인주민 4천여명이 참석해 성황을 이뤘다.

먼저 행사는 미얀마·캄보디아·필리핀·네팔 등 12개국 이주민의 세계민속의상 깃발퍼레이드로 시작됐다. 화려한 식전행사는 화창한 주말 오후 행사를 즐기기 위해 나온 외국인주민과 시민들의 마음을 사로 잡기에 충분했다.

양해규 센터장은 개회선언을 통해 “푸른 하늘과 아름다운 자연이 펼쳐진 수원야외음악당에서 이주민과 선주인이 함께 하는 오늘 행사가 모든 분들에게 아름답고 즐거운 추억이 되기를 바란다”고 말했다.

이재준 시장은 기념사에서 “이주민들은 우리의 미래를 함께 만드는 소중한 이웃이다. 여러분의 다양한 문화, 언어, 전통이 수원을 더 빛나게 한다”며 “다양성과 포용성이 함께하는 도시, 이주민과 선주민이 하나 되는 수원시를 만들어 가겠다”고 말했다.

김미경 의장은 “오늘 행사에 많은 시의원님들이 참석한 것은 의회가 바로 이주민 여러분과 함게 하겠다는 뜻”이라며 “수원에서 맺은 인연을 소중히 여기고, 대한민국에서 모두가 행복하게 살아갈 수 있도록 시의회가 최선을 다하겠다”고 밝혔다.

외국인주민의 대표인사도 이어졌다. 두 명의 이주민 대표는 “늘 함께 어울리는 즐겁고 따뜻한 행사를 만들어 주셔서 감사하다”며 “외국인주민들도 지역사회에서 열심히 일하며 보답하겠다”고 말했다.

깜짝 프로그램으로 ‘이주민의 연인’ 임명식도 열렸다. 재수원교민회는 이재준 수원특례시장과 김미경 수원특례시의회 의장에게 ‘이주민의 연인’ 임명패를 수여했다.

이에 이재준 시장은 외국인주민 정착지원 유공자 8명에게, 김미경 의장은 지역사회 봉사 유공자 3명에게 표창을 수여했다. 

이날 축제는 세계인의 날 기념식, 다문화특별 퍼포먼스, 한국전통의상·세계민속의상 패션쇼, 특집공개방송 등으로 이어졌다. 세계 음식·문화를 체험할 수 있는 다문화부스도 30여개가 운영돼 행사를 풍요롭게 했다.

또 세계 전통공연, 태권도 시범, 초대 가수 엠프리즘 공연, 코믹마술쇼 등 다채로운 무대가 펼쳐졌다.

이날 행사는 이주민과 시민이 어울리며 서로의 전통과 문화를 이해하고 화합하는 뜻깊은 시간으로 5시간 동안 진행됐다.

Suwon Special City(Mayor Lee Jae-jun) and the Suwon Migrant Community Service(Director Yang Hae-gyu) held the 18th Multicultural One-Family Festival at the Suwon Outdoor Music Hall on September 19, bringing together Suwon citizens and foreign residents.

The festival began with a flag parade featuring migrants from 12 countries, including Myanmar, Cambodia, the Philippines, and Nepal, dressed in traditional folk costumes from around the world. The colorful opening festivities captivated foreign residents and local citizens who had come out to enjoy the event on a bright weekend afternoon.

In his opening declaration, Director Yang Hae-gyu said, “I hope today’s event, which brings migrants and local residents together here at the Suwon Outdoor Music Hall under the blue sky and amid beautiful natural surroundings, will leave everyone with wonderful and joyful memories.”

In his commemorative address, Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, “Migrants are valued neighbors who are helping us build our future together. Your diverse cultures, languages, and traditions make Suwon shine even brighter.” He added, “We will continue to build Suwon into a city where diversity and inclusion thrive and where migrants and local residents come together as one.”

Representatives of the foreign resident community also delivered greetings. Two migrant representatives said, “Thank you for always creating warm and enjoyable events where we can all come together,” adding, “Foreign residents will also work hard in the local community and contribute in return.”

As a surprise program, an appointment ceremony for the title “Friend of Migrants” was also held. The Suwon Migrant Community Association presented Mayor Lee Jae-jun and Suwon Special City Council Chair Kim Mi-kyung with plaques appointing them as “Friends of Migrants.”

The festival continued with a ceremony commemorating Together Day, a special multicultural performance, fashion shows featuring traditional Korean attire and folk costumes from around the world, and a special live broadcast. More than 30 multicultural booths offering visitors opportunities to experience food and cultures from around the world further enriched the festival. A variety of stage performances were also presented, including traditional performances from different countries, a taekwondo demonstration, a performance by guest singer M-Prism, and a comedy magic show.

The five-hour event provided a meaningful opportunity for migrants and local citizens to come together, gain a deeper understanding of one another’s traditions and cultures, and strengthen harmony within the community.
