There are many multicultural families who are concerned about their children’s delayed language development. In this case, it is best to first call the family center (multicultural family support center) and receive language development services. Also, try using Gyeonggi-do’s ‘Infant and Toddler Textbook and Educational Materials Delivery Service.’

Gyeonggi Province operates the ‘Infant and Toddler Textbook and Educational Materials Delivery Service’ that delivers customized textbooks and teaching materials appropriate for the developmental stage of infants and toddlers to homes and supports play guidance. If a domestic play instructor visits your home and plays with your child using textbooks and teaching materials appropriate for your child, it is of great help in language development. Also, mothers can learn how play instructors play with their children in Korean.

Gyeonggi Province, which provided infant and toddler textbooks and teaching aids to 4,440 households last year, has significantly increased the number of beneficiaries to 15,990 households this year. In addition, reflecting the opinions of participants, the support target will be further subdivided into 0~11 months, 12~23 months, and 24~35 months, and the annual support frequency will be expanded to May, July, and September.

The support target is vulnerable groups (basic income, lower income, single-parent families) home care (not using childcare facilities) with children aged 0-35 months residing in Gyeonggi-do.

Selected families will receive textbooks and teaching aids worth 30,000 won by courier. Play tents and shape blocks for children aged 0-11 months, safari buses, rainbow blocks, and shark fishing for children aged 12-23 months, and magnetic block play sets for children aged 24-35 months.

Gyeonggi Province does not stop at supporting textbooks and teaching aids, but also provides non-face-to-face education that includes how to use textbooks and teaching aids and play ideas. Families who wish to do so can also receive in-depth play coaching through play instructors assigned to each city and county.

Vulnerable groups can inquire through the administrative welfare center in their residential area, and families receiving childcare can check the notices on the website of the childcare support center in their residential area (https://url.kr/pxb28b) and apply online.

Gyeonggi-do Childcare Policy Division chief Koh Hyun-sook said, “We will increase parents’ confidence in play and contribute to guaranteeing infants and toddlers’ right to play through teaching materials, teaching aids, and play education appropriate for each developmental stage.”
