 ①Parental leave period 1-3 months: 100% of normal wage (up to 2.5 million won)

 ②Parental leave period 4 to 12 months: 80% of normal wage (upper limit of 1.5 million won, lower limit of 700,000 won)


Q7. What if my workplace refuse my parental leave?

If your employer refuses to take parental leave, you can file a complaint with the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Upon receipt of a complaint, the Ministry of Employment and Labor initiates an investigation. If it is confirmed that the employer has refused parental leave, the employer will be subject to a fine of not more than 5 million won.

Employers shall not dismiss or take any other adverse treatment on the grounds of parental leave, and may not dismiss the employee during parental leave, except in cases where the business cannot continue. Violation is punishable by imprisonment for not more than 3 years or a fine not exceeding 30 million won.
